Lumphini Park is a public park in Bangkok that covers a massive area of over 140 acres. The park offers an open public area with trees, playgrounds and an artificial lake for visitors to simply relax in the peaceful atmosphere of the surroundings. Cycling is also a very popular activity at the park, though it is permitted only between 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Several winding paths are available throughout the park and offer the ideal spot for evening joggers. Lumphini Park is also the venue of a number of events and festivals, particularly during the winter time. Smoking is prohibited at the park and dogs are not allowed. The park itself was established in the 1920s and a notable feature is the figure of King Rama VI which is visible at the southwestern park entrance.
