Description

A popular tourist destination, Davao City is the geographically largest town in the Philippines, covering a total land area of over 2,400 square kilometres. The metropolitan area of Metro Davao - to which Davao City belongs - is amongst the most densely populated, yet cleanest areas in the country. The population is comprised of a wide range of ethnic groups of diverse backgrounds such as Spanish, American, Chinese, Japanese and Muslim communities, in addition to a number of separate indigenous tribes. 

Davao City offers an abundance of natural wonders, featuring stunning landscapes, mountainous terrain as well as numerous plantations and farms. The city is also home to over 270 species of birds, of which over 100 species are endemic to the country. Over half of the city area is blanketed by lush tropical forestation as well as massive banana, pineapple, coffee and coconut plantations. 

The city is also home to a number of popular tourist attractions such as the Philippine Eagle Nature Center, Crocodile Farm, People’s Park, Tamayong Prayer Mountain, D’leonor Inland Resort and Wavepool, Davao Museum and Mt. Apo.

Nearby Airports

The main airport that serves Davao City is the Davao International Airport - also known as the Francisco Bangoy International Airport. It is also located in the near vicinity of Mt. Apo and the vacation island of Samal - which are both popular tourist attractions in the country.

Mosques

A few mosques are located in the vicinity of Davao City, including the Masjed Al-Nor, Buhangin Mosque and Piapi Mosque. The Davao City Islamic Center and Maranao Islamic Center are also located around 20 kilometres away from the main city centre.
