Manila is strategically located at the centre of the Pacific Sea Trading Routes and is a tourist hot-spot with visitors from all over the world flocking to this highly urbanized city every year.

The city has seen much international occupation throughout the centuries and the last vestiges of the British and Spanish occupation are still seen in the languages spoken. Filipina is the main language, with Tagalog also being widely used. The main foreign languages are English and Spanish which have survived the centuries and used by the older generations. The majority of Manila inhabitants are Christians and Roman Catholics; but there is also a rich Muslim heritage in some parts of Manila.

Manila has been named one of the best shopping destinations in Asia – the city is filled with malls, markets and bazaars. Home to Philippines’ main sea-port, Manila has many rare curios and souvenirs from around the world to be found hidden in small boutiques and shops being sold at bargain prices.
