This quiet resort town is one of the most beautiful areas in Cyprus. Polis is one of the latest destinations in Cyprus that is becoming a tourist hot spot. Located just 30 minutes from Paphos, Polis is the ideal location for those looking for a peaceful spot to escape the stress of a daily routine. This area has truly been blessed by nature and is surrounded by mountains, the sea and natural reserves. Polis is also a great place for individuals looking to get involved in outdoor activities. For Muslim tourists, however, locating Halal-friendly facilities in Polis will prove to be a problem.

Polis has the advantage of being located close to the breathtaking Akamas peninsula. Named after an Athenian warrior and son of Theseus, the peninsula is renowned for being home to a plethora of unique flora and fauna. The area also has fabulous geological formations like caves, islets, narrow deep valleys, and gorges. A must when in the nature reserve is to walk along the many nature trails present, such as those of Aphrodite or Adonis, to get unique and panoramic views of the bay of Polis and the west coast. These nature trails are all clearly marked and all vary in terms of difficulty, therefore allowing visitors to explore the area at their own pace. The Akamas peninsula is also ideal for those interested in scubadiving, snorkeling, paragliding, water skiing, jet skiing and swimming as well as mountain biking, cycling and trekking. Those visiting the peninsula can also relax and have their meals at the picnic site.

A fantastic way to learn more about Polis would be to visit the Marion - Arsinoe Archaeological Museum. This museum holds numerous fascinating artefacts that go back to the earliest periods of the history of Cyprus. Polis is the most perfect place for nature lovers looking to explore and for some adventure. In addition to the activities mentioned above, visitors can also go horse riding, and located just 25 minutes from Polis is the popular Tsada Golf Course. Tourists must also pay a visit to the Baths of Aphrodite and Kathikas.

Nearby Airports

The nearest airport to Polis is Paphos International Airport, which is located approximately 45 minutes away. Also located less than 2 hours from Polis, is the other major airport in Cyprus; Larnaka International Airport. To get to Polis from either airport, visitors can either take the bus or a taxi.

Halal Restaurants

There are no known Halal restaurants in Polis. However, since Polis is located quite close to Paphos, Muslim tourists can dine at the Halal restaurants there. Another option for visitors would be do dine on vegetarian and seafood dishes at local restaurants after making sure the food served does not consist of any non-Halal items. Muslim visitors should be aware that most restaurants in the area do serve alcohol.

Mosques

There are no known mosques in Polis that Muslim tourists can use. There are a couple of mosques in the area that are now closed. Since Polis is located quite close to Paphos, Muslim tourists can visit the mosques in Paphos for Jumu’ah prayers on Fridays. It is also best for visitors to pray in their hotel rooms if possible.
