Located in northeastern Brazil in the province of Pernambuco, in Ipojuca is the popular beach town of Porto De Galinhas. This small town was once a fishing village and has now become a famous beach resort because of its great tourist infrastructure, warm waters and clean beaches, beautiful weather, ecological trails and natural pools. This thriving tourist destination is located approximately 60 kilometres away from Recife, which is a major city in Brazil. Porto De Galinhas has so much to offer tourists and will keep them coming back for more. Most of the attractions in the area are water related, thus tourists will be presented with opportunities to go snorkeling, swimming, rafting, kayaking and sailing, in the clear, warm waters and also explore shipwrecks and pay a visit to a seahorse breeding farm. Porto De Galinhas is not Muslim-friendly at all, therefore Muslims visiting the town will not be able to find Halal restaurants and prayer facilities.

Porto De Galinhas has numerous natural pools and trails as well as an 18-kilometre long beach that must be explored. Those visiting the town should be prepared to spend the whole day outdoors, getting wet and sandy. Porto de Galinhas was elected as one of the best beaches in Brazil. Apart from the beaches and small natural pools; which are visited yearly by thousands of tourists, the area also has stunning reefs with a variety of marine life. To visit the natural pools and other nearby beaches, tourists can take a Jangada, which is a traditional fishing boat. Local fishermen will also take those interested in sightseeing and sailing to the reefs, on a Jangada. The natural pools are very family-friendly and are ideal for those looking to just laze around. One of the more popular pools is the 'Map of Brazil‘; so named because it resembles the shape of Brazil.

Since the town of Porto De Galinhas is quite small, most of the shops are located in the central square. Visitors will be able to find a variety of knick-knacks at these shops, including; jewelry with precious and semi precious stones and other items one may need when on the beach. Since Porto De Galinhas is only an hour away from Recife, tourists can also pay a visit to some of the numerous attractions that Recife has to offer. Two popular spots, located along the drive, are; the town of Cabo de Santo Agostinho and Suape Port. Those looking for souvenirs to take back home, will be able to find some local handicrafts in town. Regarding accommodation, tourists will be able to find a selection of hotels, motels and even luxury resorts in the area. Porto De Galinhas really is the ideal coastal getaway and ensures the perfect beach holiday for the entire family.

Because Porto De Galinhas is quite small, it does not have its own airport. The closest city to Porto De Galinhas is Recife, which is approximately 70 kilometres away. Therefore, Recife/Guararapes–Gilberto Freyre International Airport is the closest major airport to Porto De Galinhas. Visitors can get from the town of Porto De Galinhas to the airport in Recife by bus or car, private taxi or organized transfer or shared taxi. 

Halal Restaurants

There are no known Halal restaurants in Porto De Galinhas. Muslim visitors will have to dine on vegetarian or seafood dishes from local non-Halal restaurants after making sure that the dishes chosen do not consist of any non-Halal items. They also need to be aware that alcohol is served in most restaurants. Tourist must try out some Brazilian macaxeira, which is sweet tapioca or manioc root. Another must-try is the juice of a king coconut; it is just perfectly sweet and refreshing.

There are no known mosques in Porto De Galinhas. Muslim tourists can ask the locals for mosques located in areas nearby or, Muslim tourists are advised to pray in their hotel room before setting out on any excursion, if possible. Visitors can also travel to Recife for Friday prayers.
