Located away from the crowded beaches of the west coast, Sanur offers a quiet escape for its visitors. The beach in Sanur stretches over 5 km and is excellent for observing the sunrise. This resort town is serene and away from the loud and maddening crowds, so visitors can enjoy a wide range of water sports and other beachside attractions in peace.

Beaches and resorts are not everything Sanur is known for. The Le Mayeur Museum dedicated to the works of Adrian Jean Le Mayeur—a Belgian impressionist—is located just at the front of Sanur Beach. Another wonderful place to visit in Sanur is the Serangan Island Turtle Conservation Centre where tourists can see the tortoises’ hatchling pens and enclosure! Sanur also has the Mangrove Information Centre located amidst 600 acres of mangrove forest towards the south of Sanur. This is the perfect place for all nature enthusiasts to marvel at the wide mangrove conservation.

An annual International Kite Festival is held at Padanggalak Beach every year from July to October! Don’t miss out on the chance to mingle with the locals in the kite-flying experience right by the ocean.

Several shops along Jalan Danau Tamblingan offer many things from clothing to traditional handicrafts. There is also a night market as well as an art market in town where visitors can find traditional Balinese art and craft items!

Nearby Airports

The Ngurah Rai International Airport is the nearest one to Sanur. The airport is located about 20 minutes from Sanur. A pre-paid taxi costs around Rp 95,000. There are also several metered taxis available around the area that can take visitors to Sanur. Unfortunately, there is no public transportation available from the airport to Sanur.

Halal Restaurants

There are several Muslim-friendly restaurants in Sanur where visitors can dine. Some of the recommended halal places to dine are Goemerot Restaurant, Nasi Ayam Men Weti, and several Muslim-owned warungs at the Sanur Night market.

Mosques

Masjid Al-Ihsan is the main mosque of Sanur, Bali. There are other mosques and musallahs in Denpasar and in the surrounding areas of Sanur. Be sure to ask the locals about the closest one to your location!
