It was a beautiful day in Singapore. Lelah and I were very excited to start on our three cities adventure. We checked in and off we go!
The flight was fairly smooth and easy. This is coming from someone who has a fear in flying. That 1 hour 50 mins flight felt like 30 minutes! We slept peacefully and woke up rejuvenated.
We were ready to embark on an adventure with Fatin Suhana and Yuyu Zulaikha!
It was so nice to meet them in person. We met Fatin Suhana at an event once but Yuyu is just too cute! We were all hungry and our guide suggested having lunch at Roda Padati which serves Padang dishes.
I love rice. And my malay lauk. So when I saw a train of dishes, I'm sold. I obviously finished up my plate of rice. Lelah on the other hand, didn't finish hers. Guess who ate it up??
After our late lunch, our guide suggested going to Monument National, a landmark of Jakarta city. However, the infamous Jakarta traffic was so bad, we had to give it a miss and go to Masjid Istiqlal.
At the mosque, we were given a short visual tour of the facade of the building. I heard we're going inside tomorrow and insyaAllah I will get to pray in it too! The mosque is very majestic. I'll leave the part about the mosque tomorrow when I actually get to be inside.
After the short mosque tour, we went for dinner at Salero Jumbo. I love the food here too! Especially that buttey prawn. Lelah made me eat it with the skin and oh my gosh, it was delicious!! If you are ever in Indonesia, what kind of drink will you get? Definitely jus alpokat! I'm not quite a fan of it but Lelah sure enjoyed hers!
We had a lot of fun at Salero Jumbo because there is a dais so we had a mini photo taking session.
After dinner, it was time to rest. We head off to our stay for the night at Sufyan Inn Tebet, a syariah compliant hotel. They provide us with sejadah, the Quran and a book of duas and dzikir. Alhamdulillah.
So here I am, writing this with my bestfriend googling and checking out the places that we're going tomorrow.
Day one and I had so much fun. Travelling with Lelah is always a lot of fun. Our bus rides are never without laughter. She's crazy but I'm crazier. Maybe that's why we're bestfriends.
