HalalTrip to Indonesia - Day 1 in Jakarta with Yuyu
My trip along with my husband and my son began today as we've arrived at our first destination city, Jakarta. Everything went excitingly well; we were literally jumping out of excitement, especially Habib. Our first activity of the first day of arrival was enjoying the Minang food at Roda Padati. I fell deeply in love with their Ikan Masak Lemak, I hardly shared it with others. Ikan Masak Lemak is a dish of tender fish in creamy coconut gravy that is absolutely delicious. The dish brings out great spicy and sour flavours, together with the tangy taste of fresh lemongrass. Yuyu---Day-2 We later took a tour around Jakarta, but unfortunately, a lot of our time was wasted in the traffic jam. The only place we got the chance to visit was Masjid Istiqlal, one of the largest mosques in Asia. Masjid Istiqlal is Indonesia's national mosque and was built to commemorate the country's independence from its former colonial rulers. It is massive in size and can presently accommodate as many as 120,000 worshippers! The view was spectacular. Our last destination we went to before we headed to the hotel was Salero Jumbo, Masakan Padang restaurant in the heart of Jakarta. This is the place where they served the most delicious Udang Goreng Mentega I've ever tasted! The shrimp with butter and sweet soy sauce tasted like heaven in my mouth. Yuyu---Day-1 So, we ended the night and headed straight to the hotel to recharge for tomorrow's journey.   Click here to view my timeline!   .
