HalalTrip to Indonesia – Day 2 in Jakarta with Fatin
We started our day at Taman Mini Indah Indonesia. It is great for a cultural experience and provides a lot of information about Indonesia's various ethnicities, almost all that have been recognised. This place has it all for those who want to learn more about Indonesia! I personally love the culture of Minang and Jawa Tengah. Minang attracts me with its beautiful art and decorations on houses – same with Jawa Tengah At Taman Mini we also rode a cable car and it was really interesting to see all the houses and places from a different angle. Afterwards we went to the Istiqlal Mosque to perform our Dzhur and Asar (Jamak) prayer. It was indeed a very huge masjid. It also had an Islamic school inside. Can you imagine how big it is? fatin-day-2--Istiqlal-Mosque Once we had our lunch, we went to Monas (short form for Monument Nasional). Monas is a pride to all Indonesians. There were a few food courts around the location for people to stroll around. Taking a walk at Monas is a great way to take few pictures and grab some delicious Indonesian delicacies. The food court seems quite new and clean. We then went out for shopping at Grand Indonesia. It is so big! This has been my favourite place whenever I went to Jakarta. Why? In addition to an abundance of great groceries located at the ground floor (food hall), it is also home to one of the best things in Indonesia – Magnum Cafe! Apart from the scrumptious ice cream desserts, be sure to try their carbonara and salmon. Both are simply too good to be true. fatin-day-2 To round off our day, we went to another shopping mall called Thamrin City before dinner. It is an excellent place to buy some souvenirs and batiks; more Indonesian fashion items can be found here in comparison to Grand Indonesia which has a more international appeal. I enjoyed both malls since they are both different in my opinion. I will definitely come again to shop! . Click here to view my timeline! .
