Dundalk is the county town of County Louth and finds location at the site where Castletown River meets the Dundalk Bay. The area of Dundalk has been inhabited since the 2500 BC and the area has seen the rule of several dynasties. During the 19th century, the town gained a lot of importance and several industries mushroomed in the area. The County Museum in Dundalk preserves the history of the area and has several exhibits.
