Dundalk is the county town of County Louth and finds location at the site where Castletown River meets the Dundalk Bay. The area of Dundalk has been inhabited since the 2500 BC and the area has seen the rule of several dynasties. During the 19th century, the town gained a lot of importance and several industries mushroomed in the area. The County Museum in Dundalk preserves the history of the area and has several exhibits.

There are several castles and monuments across Dundalk and its surroundings. The Cúchulainn Castle and the Cúchulainn’s Stone make good places to visit. The Roche Castle is also a great place to visit. Around Dundalk there are some good countryside surroundings that make good places to visit. The Stephenstown Pond and Agnes Burns Cottage & Visitor Centre is located a little further from Dundalk and is quite good to visit.

Dundalk offers some excellent shopping opportunities. From top-class retailers to locally owned shops there are several boutiques and shops in Dundalk that are good for shopping.
