Riga is a beautiful city and the capital of Latvia. The city is divided by the Daugava River and the old part lies on the eastern side of the river. The Old Town is the main attraction in the city. The Triangula Bastion in the Old Town features a viewing platform. The other attractions in the Old Town area include Museum of the Occupation of Latvia, Town Hall, Sun Museum, etc. The Riga Castle is also good to visit; it is home to two museums namely the National History Museum of Latvia and the Museum of Foreign Art.

The Freedom Monument is a major landmark in Riga. Around the Freedom Monument there are several attractions that are good to visit. The Esplanade Park houses the National Museum of Art. In the outskirts of the city is the Mežaparks; the park features wonderful residential houses that were occupied by the rich. The city has a number of museums that are good to visit and give travellers a peek inside the history and heritage of the area.

Riga is a good destination for shopping. The Riga Central Market is an affordable destination for clothing and accessories. The Konventa Seta is lined with numerous shops selling different types of souvenirs and other items.

Nearby Airports

Riga is served by the Riga International Airport, which is located about 10km from the city. From the airport visitors can take buses, taxis, minibuses or airport shuttles. The Bus 22 takes visitors from the airport to the old town. Taxis charge about 14 Euros for a ride to the city center. Minibuses charge around 8 Euros per person.
