The Virtues of the Istighfar

The istighfar is one of the essential parts of worship and prayers in Islam. Istighfar is a sign or a prayer recited by a Muslim so that Allah may protect them from the evil influences in this world and the hereafter as a part of the dhikr. The dhikr may also be able to be recited if they did or see something that is wrong, shameful, or not according to Islamic teaching.

As humans are beings equipped with senses and minds, as a creation of God, they are still able to choose their own actions. Whether to follow and do the good deeds or the bad deeds. Implementing to obeying Allah and the teachings of Islam, or disobeying Him and committing to doing sin. But Allah as the greatest has limitless mercy and understandings that humans are close to mistakes and are imperfect, therefore opening the door to forgiveness through istighfar so they would not be burdened with their sins forever. The Istighfar may be recited for those who have mistakenly committed sin or ignored his conscience and rules, thus it is best to recite them in order to prevent us from those sins and go against shaytan and their temptations.

We as humans must always try our best to follow His teachings in order to achieve His blessings. Being wise and loyal is something that Allah wanted His followers to be, and in this case by following the rules of Islam. As we humans are prone to mistakes, make sure to always acknowledge and be aware of our mistakes by reciting the Istighfar. May Allah forgive our sins. Amin.
