Day 2 : Kigali City Tour / Transfer to Akagera National Park
After an early breakfast at 07:30 am, you will transfer to meet your host family at Aziz life Village. Azizi Life began in 2008 as an initiative of the Christian nonprofit, Food for the Hungry. ”Through a business development program, we met a number of artisan cooperatives. What we saw is that the artisans had skills, organization, and leadership. They had a vision for the future. They were from impoverished communities but had the means to rise up. The problem was this: although the artisans could sell their crafts to their neighbors or through a middleman, the income they earned was insufficient to support their families. In some cases, they didn’t even cover the cost of the raw materials”! Azizi Life was begun to honor the initiatives and work of the artisans and serve as a bridge to customers around the world. You will join your host family to the garden, local beer brewing and many more. Later, you will proceed to Nyungwe Forest National Park.
The heart of Nyungwe Forest is like a scene from a fairy tale. Tall old Mahoganies, Ebonies, and giant Tree Ferns tower above you, whilst Orchids and other Epiphytes cling to every branch. Brightly colored birds flit around; butterflies are everywhere, including a variety of primates for which Nyungwe National Park is renowned. On the way, you will branch off to Uwinka for your canopy walk briefing.
The Canopy is about 2 hours hike from the starting point at Uwinka RDB Visitors center. This forest is on a mountain and so the hike down is quite slippery because of the mere fact the ground on which the tourists trek is sometimes wet and moist. The bridge suspended between huge trees gives one a feel of fresh air, 60 meters above the forest floor. Besides the freshness in the air and splendid aerial view of the trees, you will enjoy the sight of beautiful birds flying across as you enjoy the walk.
You will transfer to the lodge for your dinner and overnight.
Day 3 : Boat ride- Game drive and transfer back to Kigali
This morning at 05:00 am you will meet with your guide at the park headquarters for chimpanzee tracking briefing. After the briefing you will drive to the starting point in the Cyamudongo sector.
Nyungwe is an ideal destination for lovers of primates, with 13 different species living here, and most visitors will go for at least one tracking experience, the most popular of which is chimpanzee trekking. Starting very early in the morning, chimps are tracked in groups of eight, you will have just one hour in their company once they’ve been located. Sightings aren’t as reliable or as clear as gorillas however since they often remain in dense forest, but their engaging playfulness and human-like characteristics make the long day worthwhile. Later you will return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon visit the Gisakura tea estate or relax at the lodge.
Day 4 : Waterfall Hike -Transfer to Volcanoes National Park via Kibuye and Gisenyi.
This morning after breakfast at 07:00am, you will start your hike to the Kamiranzovu waterfall. You will return to the lodge for Lunch and later transfer to Volcanoes National park. On arrival in Musanze you will check in at your lodge for Dinner and overnight

Volcanoes National Park protects the steep slopes of this magnificent mountain range and is the home of the rare mountain gorilla and the rich mosaic of montane ecosystems, which embrace evergreen and bamboo forest, open grassland, swamp, and heath, but the high point will be spending an hour with the remarkably peaceful gorillas despite their size and appearance as they go about their daily life, feeding, playing, resting and raising their young.
After your trek, you will drive to the Lodge to freshen up before lunch and this evening you will visit Ibyi iwacu- ex -poachers village.
IBYIWACU CULTURAL VILLAGE is changing traditional perceptions of what constitutes tourism by turning fate into fame through sharing various aspects of rural cultures and livelihoods into tourist attractions and creating income-generating activities for rural poor people that have lived on bushmeat, poaching for generations. The village provides tourists experiences beyond wildlife viewing, the people-culture and how they live. The village also gives a chance to the visitors to enjoy the eight different local dances, listen to Gorilla songs, local food preparations, visit the local healer, visit the king’s place and get to hear all the old stories.
