Overview

The Singapore Zoo is a model of the 'open zoo' concept, housing more than 300 species of animals in spacious enclosures that mimic the animals' natural habitats. It is a great place to enjoy with the entire family; children can take advantage of rides on elephants and ponies, and enjoy a variety of animal shows throughout the day. Strollers and wheelchairs are readily available for rent, and for those with small children who may get tired walking, there are 'Tiny Xplorer' wagons that the kids will love getting pushed along in.

Remember your sunglasses and your umbrellas! With the tropical climate, you can never be too certain about the weather and you would not like to be caught unaware under a tropical downpour! Having an insect repellant is a good idea as well. After all, it as zoo located in a secondary rainforest!

Prayer Facilities

There is no dedicated place for visitors to perform Salath. But it is not difficult to find a secluded place to perform Salath. Wudu can be done in one of the washrooms.

There is a prayer room near the Trams parking area which is used by staff for prayers. You can ask a staff member permission to use this room.

Halal Food

For Muslim Families, there are a few options for Halal food. At the entrance, you will find a KFC outlet and the Ah Meng Café which are both Halal certified. Inside the park, there is another KFC outlet at the 'Rainforest Kidzworld'. The Ah Meng Restaurant, near the centre of the zoo, serves a variety of local and Western dishes; however, at peak hours, you can expect to wait for a table to clear before sitting to eat! Throughout the park, there are small shops where you can buy some light refreshments.
