Overview
Once the property of the Japanese businessman Taijiro Kodera in the late 19th century, the Sorakuen Garden was unveiled to the public in 1941 and is currently the only urban traditional Japanese garden in Kobe. The garden covers an area of over 20,000 square metres and offers a plethora of breath-taking sights to delight every nature enthusiast. After walking through the majestic entrance gates, visitors will be enraptured by the sheer beauty and impressiveness around every corner of the garden, with sights such as the 500 year old Camphor tree, the central pond and the surrounding rich dark-green pine trees. It also features a two storey houseboat owned by a feudal lord of Himeji, the stable of the old Kodera residence, as well as an elegant open area grass plaza.

Designated prayer room facilities at the Sorakuen Garden will be unavailable, but it is possible to enquire the locals for a private area to use during prayer times.
