Overview
Located at the foot of the Rokko mountains, Kitano Ijinkan - also known as Kitano-chō - is a historic landmark in Kobe that features early foreign residences from the late 19th century. Visitors to Kitano Ijinkan can witness several mansions, consulates, gardens and museums, as well as a number of restaurants, boutiques and religious places of worship. The old fashioned interiors of the houses and mansion reflect classic Western design elements and exude an ambience that is reminiscent of a bygone era. The Former Chinese Consulate and the garden of England House are perhaps the two most popular spots in Ijinkan and showcase several century-old pieces of art.
