Overview

The origins of the Malay and Islamic World Museum date back to 1910, when it was constructed by Dunlop - the British Rubber company - who made use of the building until the late 1980s. Later converted into a museum, the building features distinct English architectural elements - rectangle shaped design with deep slanted roofs. It currently showcases the spread of Islam throughout Malaysia over the year with numerous items of display including historical artefacts, garments and monuments. It is also commonly known as the Muzium Dunia Melayu Dunia Islam and is located in the vicinity of several other museums.

Prayer Facilities

Plenty of space is available to be made use of during prayer times. It is also possible to visit one of the mosques in the vicinity such as the Al-Azim Mosque, Kampung Hulu Mosque, Tranquerah Mosque or Malacca Straits Mosque.

Halal Food

Visitors can choose from a number of Halal restaurants in the vicinity of the Malay and Islamic World Museum including several popular spots in Melaka such as Pak Halim Corner and the Restoran Taj. McDonald's is another option that visitors could opt for.
