Overview
The majestic arch of Kota Darul Ehsa stands in all its glory as the gateway to the city of Petaling Jaya. Being Malaysia's biggest arch, Kota Darul Ehsan was officially opened in 1981 to commemorate the sacrifice of the Selangor state to the federal government and sets the boundaries of Selangor with Kuala Lumpur. The architecture of the arch features elements of Moorish design - as seen on the domes of the arch - and is similar in build to the Kuala Lumpur Railway Station which is also located in the near vicinity. Four century-old cannons are positioned at the base of the arch while a series of flags & state crests are positioned at the top. The arch is particularly spectacular after dusk when it illuminates the night sky with magnificent shades of soft gold.
