Overview

The Suleymaniye Hamam is a traditional Turkish bath that was established in 1557 by the Ottoman ruler Sultan Süleyman. The bath is part of an extensive historic complex and is presently the only hamam in Istanbul that caters to both males and females together. Designed by the renowned Turkish architect Mimar Sinan, the building structure is noted for its magnificent domes and arches, beautiful marble interiors and geometrically aligned chimneys. Suleymaniye Hamam consists of three sections - the Hot Section, the Cold Section and the Lukewarm Section, each serving a different purpose. It is a popular tourist attraction in Istanbul and large numbers of visitors flock to it on a regular basis.
