Overview

The Haci Bayram Mosque is considered to be amongst the oldest and most revered mosques in Turkey and was constructed in the 15th century, in 1427. The mosque was named after Hacı Bayram-ı Veli - the founder of the Bayrami sect. Tiling and more architectural additions were made in the 17th and 18th centuries and the mosque presently stands majestically in the Ulus area, reflecting its ornamental wood ceilings, minarets, Kutahya tiles and floral motifs. The memorial tomb of Hacı Bayram-ı Veli - The Hacı Bayram Mausoleum - is also located next to the mosque and dates back to 1429. It is regarded as an example of the finest 15th century mausoleums in Ankara.
