Overview
The Atakule tower located in central Ankara is considered to be the most prominent landmarks of the city. The massive communications and observation tower stands at an imposing height of over 400 feet tall and can be sighted from almost anywhere in the city. Atakule was opened to the public in October 1989 by President Halil Turgut özal, following two years of construction. The observatory deck is located at the top section of the tower and offers spectacular views of the city in the distance. An open terrace and revolving restaurant are also available at the top of the tower, while the bottom level offers a shopping mall and a number of restaurants and eateries. It is a must-visit spot when travelling in Ankara.
Prayer Facilities
Private space is available at Atakule to make use of during prayer times. It is also possible to visit a mosque located in Ankara for prayers, such as the Kocatepe Masjid, Haci Bayram Mosque, TBMM Mosque and the Basbakanlik Yeni Bina Mosque.
Halal Food
Plenty of Halal food options and Halal restaurants are available in the vicinity of the Atakule. Several restaurants that serve Halal food are available within the tower itself (it is always recommended that you check with the restaurant owners prior to dining).
