Overview

Pigeon Island is an enchanting little island within in the city of Kusadasi. Many consider it to be the symbol of the town and it is the ideal place to go to spend a few leisurely hours relaxing while taking in picturesque views of the surrounding scenery. The island was also known as Bird Island and due to the flocks of migratory birds that would visit it in mass numbers. The history of the island dates back to the Ottoman period, when the island served as a military base and prevented attacks by sea. A Byzantine castle is located on the castle - known as the Pirate Castle - and was used against pirates back in the day. At present, it is a delightful spot to watch the evening sunsets or the yachts cruising into the horizon in the distance. Several restaurants and eateries are also located in the vicinity, serving a variety of food and snacks.

Prayer Facilities

Plenty of private space is available on the island to make use of during prayer times. It is also possible to visit a few of the prominent mosques in Kusadasi – such as The Fortress Mosque, Hanim Mosque, Camiatik Mosque and the Haji Ibrahim Mosque - which are located a short distance away.

Halal Food

Several cafes and restaurants are available in the vicinity of the island, all serving Halal food. Many visitors flock to the restaurants in the area to enjoy a few snacks while taking in the beautiful views of the island and yachts cruising along.
