Babadag

Overview

The mountain of Babadağ - the ancient Mount Cragus as it is also known - is located in the Muğla Province, in the vicinity of ölüdeniz. The highest peak of the mountain reaches almost 2000 metres in height with a secondary peak also reaching a height of 1400 metres. The mountain is noted for its rich natural environment and flora, with it being home to a number of endemic species of plants and trees. In the past, the mountain was also known as Mount Cragos and Mount Kragus and was a prominent location in Lycia. At present, it is a famed attraction due to the fantastic variety of flora that thrive in the area and also due to paragliding, which is steadily becoming a popular activity. Mount Babadag is also in close proximity to the sea and offers glorious views of the surrounding landscapes, providing ample photography opportunities.

Prayer Facilities

Though designated prayer room facilities at Mount Babadağ will not be available, plenty of open space is available for visitors to make use of during prayer times. It is also possible to visit some of the mosques in Fethiye or ölüdeniz which are located a few kilometers away.

Halal Food

Though Halal food is generally accessible in the area, it is recommended that you bring a few snacks along for the hike. Access to prominent Halal restaurants will be available in ölüdeniz or Fethiye where Halal food will be available in abundance.
