Overview

The Beijing National Stadium - also known as the Bird's Nest - is a stunning piece of architecture constructed in 2008 to host the Summer Olympics and Paralympics of 2008. This gigantic architectural marvel spans across a massive area of over 250,000 square metres and is capable of accommodating up to 91,000 spectators in total capacity. The unique bird's nest design is believed to signify a cradle that bears the future hope of human beings. Construction of the venue is believed to have cost an estimated value of around USD $500 million and presently it is an iconic landmark in the country, drawing in about 20,000 - 30,000 visitors on a daily basis. Since the Olympics, the stadium has been host to several important events such as foreign concerts and football matches.
