Located in the Jiangsu Province in Nanjing, the Nanjing Museum is one of the largest and most prominent museums in China. It covers an area of over 17 acres and houses over 400,000 items on display at twelve different exhibition halls. The halls include the Qin Garden area as well as separate halls for earthen ware, treasures, folk art, bronze ware, ancient porcelain, sculptures, paintings, modern art, jade, lacquer and silk products. The history of the Nanjing Museum dates back to the 1930s, making it one of the oldest museums in the area. The main building structure was designed by Liang Sicheng - who is considered to be Father of Modern Chinese Architecture - by blending Chinese and Western design elements. The museum is well-worth a visit when sight-seeing in Nanjing.
