Overview

The Sichuan University Museum - also known as the West China Union University Museum - was founded in 1914 and is considered to be the only one of its kind in China. The museum covers an area of over 2000 square metres and houses over 40,000 artefacts and items of interest on various subjects ranging from ethnology, folklore and art sculptures. It features several halls exhibiting items of folklore, customs, writing and paintings, Tibetan arts, revolutionary relics and sculptures. Sichuan University Museum is a prominent museum in the area and is a famed attraction, gathering over several ten thousands of visitors over the past decade. The collection at the museum has been highly praised by international experts and scholars, and a visit to Sichuan University Museum while sight-seeing in Chengdu is highly recommended.

Though designated prayer facilities at Sichuan University Museum may not be available for Muslim travellers, it is possible to enquire for a private space to make use of during prayer times.
