Overview

Fossil Shell Beach is also known as Su-san Hoi in Thai, which translates to "Seashell Graveyard". The beach is located about 7 kilometres towards the west of Aonang and is a popular attraction amongst tourists. The site is famed for its compressed slates of 40 million old shellfish that has hardened over the years to a form of concrete. The shells can be viewed at three different sites - Susaan Hoi Site 1, Susaan Hoi Site 2 and Susaan Hoi Site 3. Though entrance prices are slightly overpriced for foreigners, a visit to the area is recommended for travellers and tourists to Aonang - particularly for those with a penchant for geology and the outdoors.

Prayer Facilities

There are quite a few mosques in the area for Muslim travellers looking for prayer facilities around Aonang Beach. Masjid Aonang and Masjid KlongHaeng are the two closest mosques and are located about a kilometre away. Plenty of private space in the area is also available to make use of during prayer times.

Halal Food

Aonang Village is home to a sizable Muslim community and quite a few Halal restaurants will be available in the area. RuenPreutsa, White Orchid, Wannas Place and Cleopatra are considered to be amongst the best halal restaurants in Aonang and serve a wide array of enticing Halal food for Muslim travellers.
