Overview

The Palais de Beaux-Arts of Lille is one of France's premier museums and is the largest outside of Paris. The 19th century building where the museum is housed is a beautiful building and is home to an extensive collection of European painting, antiques, sculptures and more. The collection housed in the museum is renowned worldwide, making the museum a must-visit when in the French city of Lille. The museum was restored in 1997, and its surface area was increased in order to provide additional space for temporary exhibits, a library, an auditorium and a workshop. Tourists visiting the museum will be able to see a fascinating collection of art by some of the most well known artists. Audio guides and museum paper guides are available for those who require them.

Prayer Facilities

Muslim tourists may not be able to find prayer facilities while at the Palais des Beaux-Arts of Lille, but they will be able to locate a few mosques in the city of Lille, such as Masjid Al Imaan de Lille, Masjid Al Houda de Lille, Masjid Al Furqaan de Lille and Masjid Badr de Lille. Those visiting the museum are advised to ask staff at the museum to direct them to the closest prayer facility.

Halal Food

The Palaise des Beaux houses a restaurant within its premises, but Muslim tourists may not be able to dine here, unless they choose vegetarian or seafood dishes, since the food isn't Halal. They will however have to find out if alcohol is used in the preparation of the ordered item, as many French dishes tend to contain alcohol. Muslim visitors to Lille will also be able to find a number of Halal restaurants in the city, serving a variety of cuisines.
