Overview

Established in 1895, Queensland Art Gallery is a prominent art museum located in Brisbane's South Bank precinct. Together with the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art, Queensland Performing Arts Centre, the Queensland Museum and the State Library of Queensland, it forms the Queensland Cultural Centre - a multi-venue cultural hub in Brisbane. Queensland Art Gallery houses several significant works of art as well as a wide collection of Indigenous Australian art. Some notable works of art include "La Belle Hollandaise" by Pablo Picasso as well as Portrait of Archibald Meston by B.E. Minns, "Under the Jacaranda" by Richard Godfrey Rivers and several award-winning pieces by William Robinson. The design of the building itself is another prominent feature, with a display space of over 4700 square metres with walls and barriers. A visit to the art gallery is recommended for art lovers travelling in Brisbane.
