Overview

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is the largest and oldest koala sanctuary in the world. Established in 1927, the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is a sanctuary covering over 11 acres of land and is located in the suburb of Fig Tree Pocket in Brisbane. Having begun with just two koalas, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary grew in popularity over the years - particularly during World War II when it was visited by Americans to view the local animals. Presently it is home to numerous koalas as well as kangaroos, Tasmanian devils, wombats, reptiles, echidas as well as a platypus. Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is one of the world's very few sanctuaries that lets visitors interact with koalas and hold them for free. A visit to the sanctuary is recommended for all nature lovers.
