Overview

Rising to a height of 287 metres above sea level, Mount Coot-tha is the highest peak in Brisbane. Mount Coot-tha was the home of the Turrbal Aboriginal people before settlement and later was known as One Tree Hill by early Brisbane residents for its sole Eucalyptus tree at the top of the hill. Presently it is one of Brisbane's most popular tourist destinations and is famed for its mountain drives, bike trails and parks including a waterfall. It is also home to the Brisbane Botanic Gardens - also known as Mount Coot-tha Botanic Gardens - as well as the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium which offers a fantastic simulation of Brisbane's stars at night. Mount Coot-tha Forest and Mount Coot-tha Lookout are heritage-listed sites which are worth a visit.

Though designated prayer facilities at Mount Coot-tha will be unavailable for Muslim travellers, plenty of open area will be available to use during prayer times. Muslim travellers can also visit some of the several mosques in Brisbane such as the Moorooka Musallah, Darul Uloom Islamic Academy and West End Mosque.
