Parc de la Tête d'Or

Overview

When visiting Lyon with family, Parc de la Tête d'Or is a must-visit. This is the largest urban park in France and is said to span over 117 hectares. The park, located on the banks of the Rhone, is home to a 16 hectare lake, a botanical garden with greenhouses, a zoo, a rose garden, kids play areas and a puppet theatre. Parc de la Tête d'Or is perfect for the whole family as it offers attractions for everyone. Apart from relaxing in this green sanctuary; which was modeled after an English Garden, visitors can also rent a row boat and explore the expansive lake, interact with the animals at the zoo, go on a carrousel ride, tour the park on a small train, rent a pedal car or bike, and even ride around the park on a pony. The zoo found at the park is spread out over 10 hectares and is home to about 400 animals. There are tours and workshops that visitors can take to learn more about conservation, biodiversity and breeding.

Prayer Facilities

While Parc de la Tête d'Or may not have prayer facilities for Muslim visitors, there is plenty of open space available for them to offer their prayers. If in need of a mosque, Muslim tourists will be able to find quite a few prayer facilities in the city of Lyon.

Halal Food

The park is perfect for a picnic, so visitors to the park must make it a point to take along some snacks. There are also a couple of shops at the park which sell snacks and sweets, if needed. Muslim tourists will be able to find a number of Halal restaurants in Lyon. They will also find a plethora of local restaurants that serve vegetarian and seafood dishes.
