Overview

Palais Rohan is one of the most important medieval buildings in Strasbourg. A great example of the impressive baroque architectural style, the building is home to three of the most important museums of the city. Designed to resemble a Parisian mansion, the Palais Rohan was built between 1732 and 1742 and was done to the plans of Robert de Cotte, the King's main architect. Considered to be one of the finest architectural creations of the 18th century, the Palais draws in numerous tourists visiting the city. The magnificent interior of the building has remained the same and is admired and appreciated by many. Aside from these fascinating rooms, the museums housed in the building feature a range of exhibits. The Archeological Museum, the Fine Arts Museum and the Museum of Decorative Arts, all housed under one roof, provide visitors an array of interesting displays.

Prayer Facilities

Muslim tourists requiring prayer facilities when in Strasbourg will be able to find them without much difficulty as the city is home to a few mosques. Muslim visitors could visit the Grand Mosque de Strasbourg; which is the largest and most prominent mosque in the city, or Mosque Eyyup Sultan and Mosque de Hautepierre Ar-Rahma, when needed. Since Palais Rohan may not offer prayer facilities, Muslim tourists could offer their prayers at one of the above mentioned mosques.

Halal Food

While Muslim visitors will not be able to find Halal food at Palais Rohan, locating Halal food in the city of Strasbourg is possible. The city is known to have a fabulous selection of Halal restaurants serving a variety of cuisines such as Indian, Turkish and French. Muslim tourists must however be aware that some restaurants may only have a partial Halal menu and may also serve alcohol.
