Overview

Souk Al-Mubarakiya is one of the best places in Kuwait for those looking to learn more about the country and its traditions and culture. Located in Kuwait City, this is the biggest souk in Kuwait and is also known to be the best traditional one in the country. The market has become a popular sightseeing destination among tourists and is definitely a must-visit. Those visiting the popular bazaar will find a variety of toys, jewelry, Arab antiques, clothes, carpets, souvenirs, fruits and vegetables, as well as a selection of traditional Kuwaiti food, dates, spices and honey. While here, visitors must also make it a point to visit the two mini museums; the Mubarak Kiosk and the first Islamic pharmacy in Kuwait. Visitors to the market must also try a cup of traditionally brewed tea at one of the many local cafes.

Prayer Facilities

Since Kuwait is a Muslim country, Muslim tourists will easily be able to locate a mosque or prayer room anywhere they go. While at the Souk Al-Mubarakiya, Muslim visitors will be able to offer their prayers at Al-Bahar or Sea Mosque, which is located just across the bazaar, near the courtyard housing numerous cafes and restaurants.

Halal Food

Finding Halal food in Kuwait will not be a problem, since all the restaurants and cafes in the country serve only Halal cuisine. Those visiting Souk Al-Mubarakiya will find a selection of restaurants in the courtyard, just outside the market. These restaurants serve authentic local dishes, along with Persian, Indian and Pakistani food, giving visitors a plethora of dining options.
