Overview

Doge's Palace - known in Italian as Palazzo Ducale - is considered to be an icon of Venice. The majestic Venetian Gothic style palace was established way back in 1340 as the residence of the Doge of Venice. It was later opened to the public as a museum in 1923 and is presently a part of the Venetian museum network which manages Venice's cultural and artistic heritage. Notable features of the palace include its courtyard, institutional chambers and the old prison - also referred to as piombi. The palace walls are adorned with magnificent paintings by Italian artists such as Titian, Tintoretto and Veronese and also feature medieval sculptures and ornamentations that provide an interesting glimpse into Venice's medieval art. The palace attracts millions of tourists annually and is a must-visit when sight-seeing in Venice.

Prayer Facilities

It is also possible to visit a few of the mosques in Venice such as the Al-Rahma Mosque and Venezia Centro Islamico which are the two main mosques in Venice.
