Overview
A must-visit attraction for a fun outing with the whole family is the Birla Industrial and Technological Museum. Associated with the industrial development in India, the Birlas established this museum in 1956 to offer visitors the opportunity to learn more about their achievements and for them to learn the basic concepts of science. Galleries in the museum have displays on metals, transport, biotechnology, communication, life science, mining, mathematics, electricity, and pretty much anything else science related. Visitors will be able to partake in some of the numerous activities organized here, such as, science shows and games, sky observation sessions, 3D movie screenings and more. The interactive museum also consists of an aviary, snake pits, aquarium, rabbit house and underground coal mine for those interested in learning more about those fields.
Prayer Facilities
Although the Birla Industrial and Technological Museum may not offer prayer facilities for Muslim visitors, there are quite a number of mosques in the city of Kolkata. Visitors to the museum could therefore ask the museum staff to direct them to a quiet area they could offer their prayers in, or to a prayer facility or mosque nearby.
Halal Food
There is a cafeteria at the Birla Industrial and Technological Museum where visitors will find refreshing snacks and drinks. Muslim visitors could find out if the snacks served here are Halal, or they could stick to the vegetarian and seafood options available. Because they city of Kolkata is home to a sizeable population of Muslims, tourists will easily be able to locate Halal restaurants in the city.
