Overview

Located inside the popular cultural complex of Ciutat de les Arts i de les Ciències, or the City of Arts and Sciences, is the largest aquarium in Europe; the Oceanogràfic. The oceanarium is one of the key attractions inside the City of Arts and Sciences, and represents the world's main marine ecosystems. It is home to 500 different species, including; sting rays, sharks, penguins, walruses, dolphins, seals, jellyfish, turtles, tropical fish, sea urchins and numerous other creatures. The Oceanogràfic is also home to wetland bird species, reptiles, and a 24 million litre Dolphinarium. Visitors to the aquarium will get the chance to get up close and personal with numerous sea creatures, and will also get to attend a daily dolphin show, where they will be able to experience trained dolphins performing tricks.

Prayer Facilities

There are no known prayer facilities at the Oceanogràfic. Muslims visiting the aquarium will therefore have to ask for directions to the nearest mosque or prayer facility. The city of Valencia is home to a couple of mosques, and La Gran Mezquita de Valencia is the most prominent one in the city.

Halal Food

The Océanos restaurant, the Submarino restaurant, La Lonja self-service restaurant, the Rompehielos ice-cream parlour and the Pizzería and Mediterranean ice-cream parlour are all located within the Oceanogràfic. While these restaurants and eateries may not serve Halal dishes, they are sure to serve plenty of vegetarian and seafood options. The Submarino restaurant is an absolute must visit as it offers visitors the opportunity to dine on delicious dishes while being surrounded by thousands of fish.
