Pergamon Museum

Overview

Situated on Museum Island is one of the most popular attractions in Berlin, the Pergamon Museum. World renowned for its archaeological holdings, the Pergamon Museum was designed by Alfred Messel and Ludwig Hoffmann and took twenty years to construct. Three museums in one; the Antiquity Collection, the Museum of the Ancient Near East, and the Museum of Islamic Art, this museum has something for everyone, therefore making it the most visited museum Germany as a whole. Home to some fascinating treasures from the past, the Pergamon Museum's must popular section is the Department of Greek and Roman Antiquities. The museum is also home to constructions of massive archaeological structures like the Pergamon Altar and Market Gate of Miletus.

Prayer Facilities

While Muslims visiting the Pergamon Museum will not be able to find prayer facilities within its premises, the city of Berlin is home to over 70 mosques and prayer facilities. The Berlin Mosque is one of the most prominent mosques in the city and is the oldest mosque in the country. Muslim visitors to the Pergamon Museum could therefore ask the museum staff for directions to the nearest mosque when needed.

Halal Food

The Pergamon Museum is known to house a café. However, this café is currently closed due to construction works at the museum. Muslim visitors could therefore dine at one of the several Halal restaurants found in the city of Berlin. They should also be able to locate several of these establishments close to the mosques in the city.
