Overview

Berlin's Reichstag Building is one of the city's most historic landmarks and is a definite must-visit. The German house of Parliament opened in 1894 but was severely damaged in a fire. At the end of the war, the building was left even more damaged. The roof terrace and dome of the building can now be visited by the public, however advance registration is required. The roof terrace and dome offer incredible views of several of Berlin's attractions. Offering a 360-degree view of the Berlin cityscape, the large glass dome at the top of the Reichstag Building is a must-visit. From here, visitors will also be able to see the main hall of the parliament below. For those looking to relax and grab a bite to eat, the rooftop restaurant located east of the dome is open daily from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm and from 6.30 pm to midnight.

Prayer Facilities

Muslims visiting the Reichstag Building will not be able to find prayer facilities within its premises. The city of Berlin is however said to be home to over 70 mosques and prayer facilities, with the Berlin Mosque being the oldest mosque in the country. Muslim visitors to the Reichstag Building could therefore ask building staff to direct them to the nearest mosque when needed.

Halal Food

As mentioned above, there is a restaurant located on the rooftop of the Reichstag Building. While Muslims will not be able to find Halal certified food served here, they will be able to find plenty of seafood and vegetarian dishes to dine on. They should however make sure that the dishes they order do not consist of any non-Halal items, like alcohol. For those looking specifically for Halal restaurants; there are quite a number of these establishments in the city of Berlin.
