Overview

A visit to one of the tourist highlights of Hamburg; the Miniatur Wunderland, is an absolute must. The largest model railway system in the world, the Miniatur Wunderland will keep kids and adults occupied for hours. This model railway attraction features a selection of miniature countries and even an airport. Visitors will also come across sections on some of the main attractions in Hamburg, as well as ones on Austria, America, England, Italy, Switzerland, France and numerous others. Many of these are still under construction, with open construction sites allowing visitors to observe and admire the miniature sites. There are also guided tours for those interested in finding out what happens behind-the-scenes. Built by the twins Gerrit and Frederik Braun and opened in 2000, the Miniatur Wunderland has become one of Northern Germany's most successful permanent exhibitions and an extremely popular family tourist attraction.

Prayer Facilities

There are no known prayer facilities at the Miniatur Wunderland. Muslim visitors will therefore have to use the facilities offered at one of the mosques in the city. Because of its sizeable Muslim population, Hamburg has several masjids. Two of the prominent ones are the Central Masjid of Hamburg and the Fazle Omar Masjid.

Halal Food

While there are no known eateries at the Miniatur Wunderland, Muslims visiting the museum will be able to locate quite a number of Halal restaurants in the city of Hamburg. While most of these restaurants serve Turkish food, there are also numerous restaurants that serve a plethora of other cuisines. Muslim visitors to the Miniatur Wunderland can therefore ask the museum staff to direct them the best Halal restaurant nearby.
