Overview

Chicago's Willis Tower is the tallest building in America and is a global icon. It is also remains one of the most popular tourist destinations in Chicago, having once been the world's tallest building. Renamed from Sears Tower to Willis Tower in 2009, this magnificent building is located in Chicago's business district and is known for its great architecture. Standing at 1,451 feet, Willis Tower consists of 110 stories and is home to some of the fastest elevators in the world. On the 103rd floor, visitors will find the Skydeck which is an observation deck which stands at 1,353 feet and offers unparalleled breathtaking views that span up to four states, on a clear day, and includes views of Lake Michigan and more. The Ledge found on the Skydeck is a retractable glass balcony that extends four feet outside the 103rd floor and offers visitors a look at the street below through its glass floor. On windy days, those visiting the Skydeck will also get the chance to feel the building sway beneath them. Apart from housing offices, Willis Tower is also home to numerous restaurants and cafés, health and wellness centers, a salon, gift shops and more.

Prayer Facilities

Muslims visiting Willis Tower will not be able to find prayer facilities in the building. The city of Chicago is however home to a number of mosques and Islamic Centers like Masjid-Al-Faatir, Masjid Al-Noor, Masjid Al-Ansar, Al-Madina Islamic Center and Masjid Rahmat. Muslims tourists can therefore ask to be directed to the neatest prayer facility to the tower when needed.

Halal Food

As mentioned above, Willis Tower houses a selection of fantastic cafés and restaurants. Visitors will therefore find numerous options to suit their budgets and tastes. Salseria Grill & Cantina, Venice Café, Starbucks Coffee, French Accent, Argo Tea and Market Creations are all located in Willis Tower. While these establishments may not be Halal certified, they are sure to serve vegetarian and seafood options suitable for Muslims. For those looking specifically for Halal restaurants, there are numerous options in the city, due to the large Muslim population in Chicago.
