The National Mall

Overview

A trip to Washington is not complete without a visit to the National Mall and Memorial Parks. This national park, located in downtown Washington is one of the most visited attractions in Washington. Tourists must make it a point to take a stroll down the National Mall, as this will takes them past many of the capital's important monuments and museums. Visitors will come across the US Capitol building, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, numerous Smithsonian museums, the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, the Ulysses S. Grant Memorial, the Capitol Reflecting Pool, the United States Botanic Garden, the Smithsonian Carousel and many more landmarks and attractions. The National Mall's lush lawn is great for kids looking to run around and have some fun.

Prayer Facilities

Muslim tourists will not be able to find prayer facilities at the National Mall, but they should be able to find a clean and quiet place in the park to offer their prayers. The Islamic Center of Washington, Masjid Al-Hikma, Idriss Mosque and the Islamic Center of Kent are a few of the many mosques in the city. Muslim tourists can therefore ask locals to direct them to the closest mosque when needed.

Halal Food

Those visiting the National Mall will definitely be able to locate cafés and eateries in the area. These establishments may not be Halal certified, but they are sure to serve vegetarian and seafood dishes suitable for Muslims.
