Overview

One of Houston's most popular attractions is the Downtown Aquarium, a public aquarium, entertainment and restaurant complex. Developed from two Houston landmarks; Fire Station No. 1 and the Central Waterworks Building, the Downtown Aquarium is a home to numerous attractions including the Aquarium Adventure Exhibit and several rides. The Aquarium Adventure houses over 200 species of colorful aquatic creatures and features many exhibits like the Louisiana Swamp, Shipwreck, Rainforest, Sunken Temple and more. The 500,000 gallon Downtown Aquarium complex also boasts a Ferris wheel and several rides, some shops, a white tiger exhibit, an aquatic carousel, a fully equipped ballroom and a restaurant.

Prayer Facilities

While the Downtown Aquarium does not have prayer facilities within its premises, Muslim visitors may be able to fine a clean and quiet place to offer their prayers. If unable to do so, they could visit one of the many mosques in the city, such as Masjid al-Amin, Al-Noor Society Central Masjid or the ISGH Masjid Hamza.

Halal Food

Since the Downtown Aquarium is part attraction and part restaurant, visitors must make it a point to dine at the restaurant while here. The restaurant's menu includes a wide variety of fresh seafood dishes; like lobsters and crab, which Muslim visitors could dine on after making sure only Halal ingredients were used.
