Audubon Aquarium of the Americas

Overview

Located in the French Quarter, on the banks of the Mississippi River, the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas is one of the top aquariums in the whole of the United States. Home to over 10,000 aquatic animals, the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas is a must-visit for families visiting New Orleans. Visitors to the aquarium will come across sharks, sting rays, penguins, jellyfish, otters and numerous other fascinating aquatic animals. The aquarium also houses numerous exhibits like Amazon Rain Forest, Penguins Exhibit, Geaux Fish!, Deep Grotto, Great Maya Reef and the Gulf of Mexico Exhibit among others. The Gulf of Mexico Exhibit is the aquarium's largest exhibit consisting of 400,000 gallons of man-made saltwater. Those visiting the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas also get the chance to feed the penguins and pet sting rays, as well as to snorkel or scuba dive in the Great Maya Reef.

Prayer Facilities

Muslim visitors to the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas will not be able to find prayer facilities within its premises. They will therefore have to make use of the facilities offered at one of the many mosques in New Orleans. The New Orleans Masjid Al-Islam, the Islamic Center of New Orleans, Muhammad Mosque and Masjid ur-Rahim are all frequented by the city's locals and tourists alike.

The Audubon Aquarium of the Americas has a food court at which visitors will be able to find a wide selection of delicious food and drinks.
