Overview

Located in historic Uptown New Orleans, the Audubon Zoo is an attraction great for the entire family. Spread across 58 acres and home to 2,000 animals in natural habitat settings; including a variety of rare ones like white tigers and Amur leopards, the zoo is one of the top attractions in the city. The most popular attraction in the zoo is the award winning Louisiana Swamp exhibit which features mysterious white alligators. Visitors will also come across the African Savanna, the Asian Domain, Jaguar Jungle, the Audubon Aviary, Audubon's Dinosaur Adventure and the Cool Zoo, amongst many other exhibits and attractions. The Cool Zoo is a small water park ideal for those looking to cool off after a tour of the zoo. The Audubon Zoo also hosts engaging educational programs and hands-on animal encounters, as well as daily animal feedings and presentations.

Prayer Facilities

Finding prayer facilities at the Audubon Zoo will not be possible. Muslim tourists can visit the Audubon Park where they will be able to find a clean and quiet place to offer their prayers. They can also visit one of the mosques in the city of New Orleans, like New Orleans Masjid Al-Islam, the Islamic Center of New Orleans, Muhammad Mosque or Masjid ur-Rahim.

Halal Food

Visitors to the zoo will be able to find a couple of cafés and snack stalls located around the zoo. The food sold at these establishments will not be Halal certified, which means that Muslim visitors will have to dine on the vegetarian and seafood options available. For those looking for Halal food in particular, finding a Halal restaurant in the city will not be a problem.
