Saguaro National Park

Overview

When in Tuscon, it is hard to miss the Saguaro National Park which extends to the east and west of Tucson. The park is part of the Sonoran Desert and is the only place in the world that protects the saguaro cactus. Home to the nation's largest cacti, the Saguaro National Park is one of the few places in the United States where the giant saguaro is found. Visitors to the park will also come across a variety of other flora as well as fauna which thrive in the harsh heat, like rattlesnakes, the Gila woodpecker and desert tortoises. There are also several hiking trails of different lengths which visitors can explore with guides or on their own, if willing to brave the heat. Those unable to bear the heat can enjoy the beauty of the area from the comfort of a car.

Prayer Facilities

While Muslims visiting the Saguaro National Park will not be able to find prayer facilities, they will however be able to locate an empty area outdoors to offer their prayers. Muslim visitors can also visit one of the mosques in the city, such as Mosque Yousuf and the Islamic Center of Tucson.

Halal Food

It is unclear if visitors to the Saguaro National Park will be able to find a café or food stall. It is therefore recommended for visitors to take a snack with them. Finding Halal food in the city of Tucson is also possible. Muslims visiting the park can therefore ask to be guided to the nearest Halal restaurant when in need.
