Overview

Located in New York City, in the borough of Queens, is the Queens Museum, previously known as the Queens Museum of Art. This art museum and educational center is situated in the Flushing Meadows-Corona Park and is housed in the New York City Building that was constructed for the 1939 World's Fair. The Queens Museum has an array of temporary exhibits of fascinating works of art from artists from the area, as well as more popular art works such as the Panorama of the City of New York. It is the museum's crown jewel and is an absolute must-see when visiting the museum. The Panorama is the largest architectural model in the museum, depicting all of the buildings in the five boroughs of New York City. Another must-visit exhibit while at the Queens Museum is the Neustadt Collection of Tiffany Glas. Muslims visiting the Queens Museum must make it a point to find out if there are any Islamic exhibitions going on at the time of their visit.

Prayer Facilities

Muslims visiting the Queens Museum will not be able to find prayer facilities within its premises. They can either find a clean and quiet area in the surrounding park, or they can visit one of the several mosques and Islamic Centers in the borough, like the Islamic Guidance Center of Queens, the Muslim Center of New York and Masjid Al-Fallah.

Halal Food

Visitors to the museum will be able to grab a bite to eat at the café located on the second floor. The park surrounding the museum is also home to numerous eateries, food stalls and vendors. The borough of Queens houses several Halal restaurants which serve an array of cuisines. Muslims visiting the museum can therefore ask museum staff to direct them to the best Halal restaurant nearby.
