Overview

A must-visit attraction for those visiting the city of Edinburgh with kids is the Edinburgh Zoo. Located just ten minutes from the centre of Edinburgh, and said to be one of the world's leading zoos, the Edinburgh Zoo offers so much to do and see for individuals of all ages, therefore making it ideal for the entire family. While at the zoo, visitors will come across, Penguins Rock, Giant Panda Experience, Koala Territory, Budongo Trail, Living Links, Brilliant Birds, the Edinburgh Zoo Gardens and Wallaby Outback housing penguins, the only two giant pandas in the United Kingdom, koalas, chimpanzees, monkeys, a variety of colorful birds, meerkats and swamp wallabies amongst many others. A highlight at the zoo is Peguins Rock which is home to the largest outdoor penguin pool in Europe. While here visitors must make it a point to stay for the famous penguin parade.

Prayer Facilities

Finding prayer facilities at the Edinburgh Zoo will not be possible. Muslims visiting the zoo will therefore have to make use of the facilities offered at one of the several mosques and Islamic Centers in Edinburgh, such as the Edinburgh Central Mosque, the Blackhall Mosque and the Annandale Street Mosque.

Halal Food

Jungle Food Court, Grasslands Restaurant and Penguin Coffee Shop are all located within the Edinburgh Zoo. While Muslim visitors will not be able to find Halal certified food at any of these outlets, they will certainly be able to find suitable vegetarian and seafood dishes. Finding Halal food in the city of Edinburgh will also not prove to be a problem.
