Overview
Set within beautiful, award winning gardens, Bristol Zoo offers a truly unforgettable experience for the entire family. Open to the public since 1836, Bristol Zoo is one of the oldest zoos in the world. Spread across an area of 12 acres and housing over 400 species of animals from around the world, including several exotic and endangered species, as well as a number of fun attractions, Bristol Zoo is a wonderful place for the family to come face to face with a diverse array of animals. The Butterfly Forest, Seal and Penguin Coast, Monkey Jungle, Asiatic Lions, Bug World, Reptile World and the Aquarium are some of the popular areas in the zoo. While the recently added Gorilla House, is another must-see area. Bristol Zoo also features Adventure Playground, Splash, an Activity Center and for the more adventurous, ZooRopia will definitely be exciting.
Prayer Facilities
Bristol Zoo is not known to house prayer rooms within its premises. Although Muslim visitors requiring prayer facilities will not find it at the zoo they will be able to make use of the facilities offered at one of the many mosques in the city of Bristol. They could also ask the staff at the zoo to direct them to a clean and quiet area, where they can offer their prayer if necessary.
Halal Food
Bristol Zoo houses a number of food outlets within its premises. Whilst Coral Restaurant is open daily, the other outlets around the zoo open depending on weather and the number of visitors. Muslim visitors will not be able to find Halal certified cuisine at any of these outlets. They will therefore either have to choose suitable vegetarian or seafood dishes at one of these establishments, or dine at one of the Halal restaurants in the city.
