Overview
A visit to Bristol is incomplete without a visit to the world renowned Clifton Suspension Bridge. Designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, but completed only after his death as a memorial to him, the Clifton Suspension Bridge is a breathtaking symbol of the city and a popular landmark visited by numerous tourists every year. The 76 metre high bridge, spanning over the Avon Gorge, linking Bristol with North Somerset, offers visitors spectacular views of Avon Gorge as well as the beautiful cities beyond. Although the bridge was designed to carry horse drawn traffic, today it is used by thousands of commuters in their vehicles. This masterpiece of Brunel is definitely worth a visit, not only to admire its impressive design but also for the stunning views it offers.
